Description

PARLIAMENT In modern politics and history, a parliament is a legislative body of government. Generally, a modern parliament has three functions: representing the electorate, making laws, and overseeing the government via hearings and inquiries, also known as sessions. When a law is to be made, it first goes through (as a bill) the House of Commons by vote. If passed by the house of commons, it then goes to the House of Lords by vote as well. The majority of the vote is the outcome. If passed by the lords, the bill is now a law. The parliament ascertains the problems within the Country (in this case NK) and tweaks them. It also puts governments into formation, through political parties. Another important thing that occurs at a parliament session is the scrutiny (examination of the government in power). This is so that the citizens of NK/City of Burnaby may be well heard for their problems and concerns regarding the government and the city.
