✝️ Status Ecclesiasticus ✝️ The Papal States [State of the Church] was founded in the 8th Century with Stephen II as Pope, having trouble with the Byzantines and the Holy Roman Empire for influence over the European Continent. We are now eleven centuries later; the group is based in Italian Unification - Victorian Era, Rome is the center of the Apennine Peninsula and has the Pope as the direct ruler. Kingdoms like the Two Sicilies and Piedmont-Sardinia fighting to unite the region under one banner, seeing Pius IX as a problem they attack and invade Rome in 1870.
