Description
The Farmers Guild is a sovereign agricultural association, occupying several fields of moderate importance and one extremely important shed whose purpose has been forgotten but is nevertheless considered vital. The Guild is ruled by the Grandmaster of the Harvest, whose authority over crops, livestock, and suspiciously large vegetables is considered absolute. Succession follows an ancient and scientifically proven ritual in which eligible farmers compete to grow the finest pumpkin. The farmer whose pumpkin is judged most impressive by a panel of elders assumes the office upon the retirement or death of the Grandmaster. This process is accepted as stable governance despite repeated allegations that the pumpkins can somehow hear the judges.
