The KIA was formed in response to the military dictatorship led by Burmese General Ne Win, on February 5, 1961. Today, it still operates as one of the largest ethnic armed forces inside the country of Myanmar (Burma), and continues to oppose the military dictatorship led by Burmese General Min Aung Hlaing, in 2021. Headquarters: Laiza, Kachin State. Operations: Kachin State, Yunnan, Northeast India. Battles & Wars: Kachin Conflict, Internal Conflict in Myanmar (Burma). Status: Setting up. est. 4/5/2021.
