By 1460, it had become a brutal syndicate under a mysterious figure known only as the Crimson Lady. Its name comes partly from devotion to her, but some whisper that the “Maw” refers to an old spice ritual that devoured the souls of its initiates and showed them the truth beneath Bastionne’s streets. Though feared as smugglers and criminals, the Maw’s Galespeakers preserve forbidden rites of growth, storm, and spectral healing.
