🏳️ United States of America 🌿 In 1812, the United States was a young nation under President James Madison, caught between westward expansion and rising conflict with Britain. British naval interference, especially the seizure of American sailors, combined with frontier fighting against Native American nations pushed the country toward war. Divided politically but driven by a sense of national honour, the U.S. declared war on Britain in June, beginning the War of 1812, a struggle that tested the strength and identity of the still‑developing republic.
