Description
The Velites were formidable skirmishers wearing wolf skins to induce fear into their enemies. They were typically used as a screening force, driving off enemy skirmishers and disrupting enemy formations before retiring behind the lines to allow the heavier-armed hastati to attack. They were placed at the front, so that they had the chance to prove themselves and win glory by seeking out single combat with an enemy.* The velites are masters at skirmishing and screening and prefer to stalk and hunt the enemy like wolves picking off the weaker elements of the enemy formation as they circle the battlefield.
