Description
𝓔𝓛 𝓣𝓔𝓡𝓡𝓞𝓡 𝓓𝓔 𝓛𝓞𝓢 𝓕𝓡𝓐𝓝𝓒𝓔𝓢𝓔𝓢 It was created in 1537 under the name Tercio de Savoya by order of the Emperor Carlos I of Spain, on the basis of veteran troops from the Tercio Viejo. Their motto comes from their exceptional behaviour in the siege, assault and capture of Friesland. The regiment would remain silent for a while until the peninsular war broke out, there it would reappear under the name Regimiento de Saboya nº 5.
