Description
🐴 Onore, e Fedelta Senza Macchia! The Kingdom of Naples was established in 1806 after Napoleon ended Bourbon rule in the Italian Peninsula. He initially appointed his older brother, Joseph Bonaparte, as king. However, in 1808, after making Joseph King of Spain, Napoleon granted the Neapolitan throne to his brother-in-law, Joachim Murat. Murat introduced significant reforms, modernizing the administration, military, and legal system. He abolished feudal privileges, improved infrastructure, and promoted economic growth, seeking to strengthen Naples as a stable and loyal Napoleonic state. His forces participated in key battles, including those in Spain and Austria, where Murat’s leadership and bold tactics earned him recognition. However, as Napoleon’s empire weakened in 1814, Murat's military position became vulnerable. His forces were stretched thin, and he faced the challenge of deciding whether to stay loyal to Napoleon or seek new alliances.
