Description
also known as military police (MP), are law enforcement agencies connected with, or part of, the military of a state. They are responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing and investigating crime within the military, and operating confinement facilities. They also engage in combat as infantry. the United States, the Military Police Corps (USAMPC) is the uniformed law enforcement branch of the United States Army. It was officially established on 26 September 1941, although it has an irregular history dating back to 1776. The USAMPC conducts investigations under the Provost Marshal General's Office or special agents of the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID). They have combat zone responsibilities in addition to their law enforcement duties, including mounted and dismounted patrols, response force operations, area damage control, route reconnaissance, cordon and search operations, critical site security, and convoy and personnel escorts.
