Formed under the leadership of Lieutenant General Henri-Georges de Perponcher-Sedlnitzsky, the 2nd Division acted as a crucial vanguard for the Allied coalition throughout the historic 1815 campaign. Tasked with holding the vital crossroads at Quatre Bras, this newly raised formation single-handedly absorbed the initial shock of the French army, preserving the strategic link between Wellington and Blücher.
