Description
Far Eastern Air Transport is an airline in Taiwan Province of China. It was founded by Hu Dongqing on June 5, 1957. Its headquarters is located in Taipei City. Its headquarters airport is Taipei Songshan Airport. It is mainly engaged in passenger, cargo and charter services. In the initial stage, the company operated Taiwan Island routes and general aviation business. The first regular air route from Taipei to Kaohsiung was opened in 1962. In 1993, it was qualified for international charter flights, and in 1995, China Development Trust and Nanshan Life acquired 53% of its equity and expanded its international business.Listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1996. In 2008, it was suspended for the first time due to the financial crisis, and after the resumption of flights in 2011, it focused on the layout of cross-strait and Southeast Asian routes. On December 12, 2019, it announced that it would cease operation and its operating license would be revoked in January 2020.
