--ABOUT US- The United States Marine Corps (USMC), also referred to as the United States Marines, is the maritime land force service branch of the United States Armed Forces responsible for conducting expeditionary and amphibious operations through combined arms, implementing its own infantry, armor, artillery, aerial and special operations forces. -how was the USMC founded?- The United States Marine Corps traces its roots to the Continental Marines of the American Revolutionary War, formed by Captain by a resolution of the Second Continental Congress on 1775, to raise two battalions of Marines. This date is celebrated as the birthday of the Marine Corps.
