Description
The General Directorate for National Security (DGSN), known in French as the Direction Générale de la Sûreté Nationale, is the national police force of the Kingdom of Morocco. Founded on May 16, 1956, following the nation's independence, the DGSN operates under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior. The agency is responsible for maintaining public order, upholding law enforcement, protecting national institutions, and ensuring the safety and security of citizens and visitors across urban areas throughout the country. Additionally, the DGSN is responsible for vital administrative public services, such as border control operations at international transit points and the issuance of official national identification documents, including the CNIE (National Electronic Identity Card).
