University Name: Atlanta Veridian University (AVU) Founding Year: 1965 Founding Vision: Atlanta Veridian University (AVU) was founded in the heart of Atlanta during a time of profound social and political change in the United States. Inspired by the Civil Rights Movement and the growing demand for African American leadership in all sectors of society, a group of prominent African American educators, activists, and philanthropists decided to create a space that would empower young Black men and women with the tools necessary to shape their communities and the world. Their vision was to establish a college that would serve not only as an academic institution but also as a hub for community engagement, cultural awareness, and social change. Mission Statement: Atlanta Veridian University aims to empower students through a commitment to academic rigor, social justice, community engagement, and cultural awareness.
