Court of the Two Stepsons The imperial court of Augustus was strongly influenced by his two stepsons, Drusus the Elder and Tiberius. Both men were important military commanders and members of the imperial family, giving them a major role in Rome’s politics and court life. Tiberius was known for his serious and cautious nature, while Drusus was admired for his military success and popularity. Together, they helped strengthen Augustus’s rule and became two of the most important figures in the early Roman Empire. At court, the two brothers brought different personalities and strengths to the imperial family. Drusus was seen as more outgoing and well-liked, while Tiberius was quieter and more reserved. Despite their differences, both were trusted by Augustus and played important roles in the empire. Their presence made the imperial court a busy and influential place, filled with military leaders, politicians, and members of the Roman elite.
