Description
The 9th Cavalry Regiment, initially a standard cavalry regiment within the mid 19th century, is a mechanized infantry and armored reconnaissance unit of the United States Army. The Regiment was established in 1866 apart of the pacification and protection of lands of the United States in Texas and New Mexico during the Indian Wars. The unit then went on to serve both world wars and during the Cold War. The regiment was now designed as an armored unit. The 9th Cavalry Regiment in the modern era is now deployed currently in the Herat Province in Afghanistan.
