Description
The Holy Imperial Guard was a unit of the Imperial Holy Roman army that served as personal bodyguards and intelligence agents for the Holy Roman emperors. They were an elite military guard unit, usually ascribed to the Holy Roman Emperor himself and sometimes important senior officers that needed to be guarded. Everyone in the Holy Imperial Guard were loyal more to the Emperor than being loyal to the empire as whole.
