Description
When the City of Riverview was incorporated into the state in 1822, the State designated this area of land as the Capitol of the State. Due to the fact that it was the capitol, the Riverview Police Department was formed to conduct capitol protections duties, and to enforce the law. In the year 1934, the State had voted to Move the Capitol to a different city due to financial reasons, subsequently taking the state government with it. The Capitol Protections detail was shutdown after that, however was reopened in 2016 as a ceremonial Capitol Guard. ----- Applications are currently closed. -----
