𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐮𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬 - 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐎𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐲𝐬 The New Orleans Greys were organized in 1835 in the city of New Orleans as a volunteer company composed largely of American citizens who answered the call to support the Texian cause during the opening stages of the Texas Revolution. Unlike the later regular forces established under the Republic, the Greys were part of the early auxiliary movement, formed outside Texas and brought into service under the authority of the Provisional Government. Well-equipped and comparatively uniformed for a volunteer unit, they reflected the broader influx of organized companies arriving from the United States to reinforce the Texian army during its struggle for independence. 1835-1836
