𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒏 Following the Grito de Lares, the island of Puerto Rico was freed from Spanish rule. Soon after, the nations of Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic and other Caribbean islands joined the Confederation in a union of all the afro-latin peoples.
