Info: Special Air Service or SAS was a unit of the British Army that was formed in july 1941 by David Stirling AKA "The Phantom Major" by the Axis. It was called "L" Detachment, Special Air Service Brigade—the "L" designation and Air Service name being a tie-in to a British disinformation campaign, trying to deceive the Axis into thinking there was a paratrooper regiment with numerous units operating in the area (the real SAS would 'prove' to the Axis that the fake one existed). It's first operations where located in the North African front and was working with the LRDG (Long Range Desert Group). After David Stirlings capture, january 1943 SAS was forced to get a new leading officer. This would be Paddy Mayne who later split SAS into two units. SAS and SBS (Special Boat Service). We strive for historical accuracy and respect for both Axis and Allied.
