Description
Tell people to look out for trains, that going through activated crossing signals are wrong. Every 90 minutes in the US, a train hits a car at a railroad crossing. even though about 45% of these crashes happen at active railroad crossings, where there are lights, bells, gates, or wigwags. 55% of the accidents happen at passive crossings, where there is only a crossbuck, and it is up to you to descide whether or not to cross the tracks. Another thing that confuses people is multiple tracks. when you go over the first set of tracks you also have to go over the next set(s) of track(s). Think of this, the average multiple track crossing has 2 or 3 tracks. But at one crossing in Florida, there is 10 tracks, and at that crossing there is no gate. Only lights and bells. With this you need to know the length of your veichal. if right after a railroad crossing is a road inter section, and you don't think there is enough room to clear the tracks safely, wait at the crossing, until you can safely
