Established in 1911, the Los Angeles Port Authority Police—officially the Los Angeles Port Police—was created to safeguard one of the busiest and most strategic harbors in the world. Tasked with protecting 7,500 acres and 43 miles of waterfront, they evolved into a specialized force with marine patrols, K-9 units, dive teams, and anti-smuggling operations.
