ABSDF Armed Wing #11200501
Description
The All Burma Students’ Democratic Front – Armed Wing (ABSDF Armed Wing) (Burmese: အလုံးစုံ မြန်မာ ကျောင်းသားများ ဒီမိုကရက်တစ် တပ်ဦး လက်နက်ကိုင်အဖွဲ့) is an armed resistance group in Myanmar formed by student activists after the 1988 pro-democracy uprising. It emerged in response to the violent suppression of student movements by the Burmese military government. The ABSDF Armed Wing has conducted armed resistance against Myanmar’s military forces, including the Tatmadaw, mainly in border and ethnic minority regions, often in coordination with ethnic armed organizations. The group advocates for democracy, federalism, and human rights, citing prolonged military rule, political repression, and the collapse of democratic governance as the primary reasons for maintaining an armed struggle, with the stated aim of contributing to the establishment of a democratic federal union in Myanmar.
