Description
Provenzano, whose parents were farm labourers, left school at the ### of 10 to work in the fields at the time of the Allied invasion of Sicily in the summer of 1943. At some point soon after the war and after his 18th birthday, like so many Sicilians he was admitted to the "Honoured Society" at a secret initiation ceremony.
