Welcome to the Metropolitan Transit Authority. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) provides local and express bus, subway, and commuter rail service in Greater New York, and operates multiple toll bridges and tunnels in New York City. We have over 5.02 million daily riders, along with over 320 different and unique bus routes through the city. The MTA has around 1,600 diesel electric buses and over 700 buses powered by compressed natural gas buses.
