Because the 72nd Division proved invincible and achieved brilliant military exploits during the Defense of the Great Wall, the President personally bestowed upon it the honorary title of the "The Division of Great Wall." The division's subordinate units included the Armored Infantry Battalion, the Heavy Tank Battalion, and the Tank Destroyer Battalion.
