𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑭𝑬𝑫𝑬𝑹𝑨𝑳 𝑨𝑹𝑴𝒀 𝑶𝑭 𝑨𝑼𝑺𝑻𝑹𝑨𝑳𝑰𝑨 𝑨𝑵𝑫 𝑵𝑬𝑾 𝒁𝑬𝑨𝑳𝑨𝑵𝑫, 1895 After Federation Day, Australia and New Zealand did not have a conventional army. Militia formations were called up for a hasty defense of the states, as the Federal Government moved to organize a proper army in the meantime. After a few months, the Federal Army of Australia and New Zealand was formed, comprising of divisions, regiments made up of Australians, Kiwis and Native Peoples. The Federal Army is directly administered by the Federal Government, while the remnant militias are maintained by the states themselves. Only citizens of the Federation are allowed to enlist.
