Description
Project Delta was the beginning of Delta force all the way back in May 1964. Its was actually named project Leaping Lena in early 1964. involved teams from the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Okinawa, Japan, and the 7th Special forces group (Airborne).While Delta Force has had its name changed a bit over the years it will likely always be know as SFOD-Delta it has been named the (CAG) or combat Applications Group, and "officially" known as (ACE) or Army Compartmented Elements. Project DELTA was the first of four (SR_ units or Special Reconnaissance units. Formed by the Military Assistance Command or (MACV) during Vietnam to collect intelligence in remote areas of southern Vietnam. "DE OPPRESSO LIBER" which translated means "to free the oppressed"
