Motto: "Order Through Service." Octavian Department of Sanitation (ODS) serves as one of Spain's premier civil maintenance and sanitization organizations. Officially tasked with preserving public hygiene, and maintaining cleanliness of the streets. Its personnel were responsible for clearing debris from bomb-damaged streets, restoring water and sewage systems, cleaning the streets, and ensuring Madrid remained functional despite wartime shortages. Wearing distinctive Green uniforms marked with the ODS insignia, ODS crews worked around the clock often accompanying engineers in recently affected zones. The department earned a reputation for efficiency, resilience, and unwavering dedication to public order. Though rarely recognized on the front lines, the men and women of the Octavian Department of Sanitation became an indispensable part of Spain's wartime infrastructure, embodying the belief that victory depended not only on soldiers, but also on those who kept the nation clean.
