Description

The Fremont National Guard is the official state military force of the State of Fremont, established in January 8th, 1847, two years after Fremont joined the Union in January 9th, 1845. Originally organized as a frontier militia, the Guard was created to protect settlements, enforce order across vast rural regions, and support state sovereignty during its formative years. In the decades that followed, the Guard evolved into a disciplined force with a strong tradition of service. It defended Fremont’s borders during early territorial disputes and contributed forces to major national conflicts, including the Civil War and both World Wars, where its regiments earned distinction for their commitment and professionalism.
