The kid is a beast at quarterback, and we’ve talked about all of the things he’s done so very well in his NFL rookie season. What we haven’t talked much about is the athletic ability that Wentz possesses in and out of the pocket. He can run, and as the season has gone along and things have slowed down for Wentz, he has seized opportunities to take off and run. The threat is there, for sure. But what has become equally obvious, and maybe not quite as anticipated, is the way Wentz has avoided pressure in the pocket with nifty footwork, great body control and natural instincts that allow him to feel the pressure and create ways to escape. “It’s just instinct,” Wentz says. “Natural instinct takes over.”
