Description
Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolag (SAAB /'s:ab/) was a premium Swedish car manufacturer. It was formed in 1945 when Saab AB began a project to design a small automobile. The first production model, the Saab 92, was launched in 1949. In 1968 the parent company merged with Scania-Vabis, and ten years later the Saab 900 was launched, in time becoming Saab's best-selling model. In the mid-1980s the new Saab 9000 model also appeared. The company was bought by General Motors until it was sold to the dutch company Spyker Cars N.V, with GM claiming patent on most of it's technology and hindering SAAB:s progression. This was effectively crippling SAAB furthermore after a long time of economical issues. Saab declared bankruptcy 16 April 2010. On the 13 June, 2012, it was announced that National Electric Vehicle Sweden (N.E.V.S; Nevs) had bought the Saab Automobile brand. On the 21 June 2016, NEVS dropped the Saab name completely.
