Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg #1178662
Description
The Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg was established in 1692 as the ninth Electorate of the Holy Roman Empire. In 1714, the Electorate joined with Great Britain via personal union. This resulted from the Prince-Elector of the time, George Louis, ascending to the throne of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. He officially became known as George I. The Electorate functioned independently, but saw much action throughout its time, forcing a reluctant Great Britain to become involved in the fate of the personal possessions of the King.
