Description
The Society of Friends of the People is a political association founded during the Three Glorious Years , a revolution which served as opposition to the July Monarchy. The Manifesto which founded the Society of Friends of the People was published in October 1830. The first days of August 1830, the Society tried, without success, to prevent the accession to the throne of Louis-Philippe. Accused by the Minister of the Interior of being responsible for the disorder, the Society of Friends of the People was dissolved on the basis of article 291 of the Criminal Code on the right of association, not abolished. However, it does not disappear. Up to June 1832, the Society of Friends of the People takes a stand vis-à-vis many political events.
