GUARDA CIVIL DE SÃO BONIFÁCIO A Guarda Civil bonifacense é a força policial da Coroa. Inicialmente formada para ser a reserva militar e Gendarmeria do exército durante a guerra da independência, reteve suas funções de polícia com o fim do conflito. Sua história confunde-se com a do exército, uma vez que participou ativamente como força de retaguarda durante a guerra da independência, tendo como funções os serviços médicos, de transporte, segurança de guarnições e policiamento civil. A Guarda somente se vê separada institucionalmente do Exército em 1909, quando é regularizada com a proclamação da Independência.
