The Grand Church #1220080
Description
Etablished in 1534 by King Henry VIII of England, the Church of England has been the supreme authority in all ecclesiastical matters in the United Kingdom. Prior to establishment, the British Isles answered to the Roman Pontiff, better known as the Pope, for religious matters. Due to this, the Pope was the only one permitted to allow a divorce between Henry VIII and Katherine of Argon, thus making his Chancellor, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, whom was charged with getting the divorce accepted by the Pope, fall out of favor, ultimately leading to the downfall of Roman Catholicism in England.
