Description

In the 18th Century, Georgia had a system of lookout towers that rang for the assistance of citizens in the event of fire. The Douglas County Government established a Volunteer Fire Company in 1886, which has gone on to become a fully paid fire and medical service. Recruitment status: County Budget limits department to 100 members.
