𝑱𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒔 - "𝑰 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆" 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙝: Corps Franc 𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣: Freikorps 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝: Free Corps 𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: Le Dépôt 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙚: Originally formed in 1918 in the face of revolution and foreign subjugation following the withdrawal of German forces and the beginning of the French occupation of Helgau, the Corps Franc was a volunteer paramilitary unit determined to protect the national sovereignty of Helgau. Units of the Corps Franc were independently organized and funded by officers of the general staff of the former Ducal Corps who belonged to the French-speaking aristocracy and still retained loyalty to the former Duke of Helgau. The Corps Franc were difficult to control and viewed as renegades by the government, one which many Corps Franc officers and enlisted men regarded with utter disdain, being in political opposition to the Free State and advocating for a return to the old duchy.
