Description
Breakcore is a style of electronic dance music largely influenced by hardcore, jungle, digital hardcore and industrial music that is characterized by its use of heavy kick drums, breaks and a wide palette of sampling sources, played at high tempos. Breakcore Stylistic Origins: Hardcore, drum and bass, IDM, digital hardcore, electro-industrial Cultural origins: Mid-1990s Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Online Typical Instruments: Personal computer, keyboard, synthesizer, drum machine, sequencer, sampler, programming, guitar Vice magazine compared the genre to the types of music used during Guantanamo Bay interrogations. The magazine praised Venetian Snares as a highlight in the genre. Because of the fragmentation, the breakcore scene is not centered in any one geographical location, but is rather scattered into disparate groups.
