Description
The Myanmar Border Guard Forces (BGF) - နယ်ခြားစောင့်တပ်, were formed as a separate branch under the Tatmadaw to protect local ethnic communities and help maintain stability in frontier regions. Composed mainly of former insurgent groups reorganized under the authority of Regional Military Commands, the BGF functions as a locally rooted security force with integrated oversight. With the recent breakdown of ceasefire agreements and renewed insurgent activity, the BGF now supports the Tatmadaw in counter-insurgency operations, territorial security tasks, and the protection of key border communities.
