𝐎𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝓥𝓲𝓻𝓲𝓫𝓾𝓼 𝓤𝓷𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓼 In 1809, the War of the Fifth Coalition sparked in central Europe. Austrian Forces crossed into Bavaria, a French client state. The French response under Berthier was disorganized early on until the arrival of Napoleon himself. Napoleon advanced on Landshut hoping to encircle the Austrian army. The Austrians retreated behind the ###### and Napoleon followed. Napoleon was repulsed at Aspern-Essling in a decisive victory for the Austrians in which Napoleon was cut off from reinforcements. Austrian forces were defeated at Wagram soon after, but Aspern-Essling proved that Napoleon could be defeated. Est. 8/28/21
