The Pactyans were an ancient Eastern Iranian people who inhabited the rugged frontier of Arachosia, located in the mountainous regions of present-day eastern Afghanistan and northwestern Pakistan. Documented by the classical Greek historian Herodotus, they were highly regarded for their resilience in extreme terrain and served as vital infantry auxiliaries for the Achaemenid Persian Empire, most notably during the Greco-Persian Wars. This group functions as a historically grounded representation of the ancient Pactyans within the Ancient Era genre.
