Description

Welcome to the Allegheny Association! We are currently on the way to hopefully achieving the funds to restore a C&O Allegheny locomotive. There are only 2 Alleghenies left, and we wish to gain C&O 1601. Built in 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works, this H8 Allegheny is one of two surviving H8 class engines. They have a 2-6-6-6 wheel arrangement and had around 7,500 horsepower. These engines could pull 160 coal hoppers, each with a load of 60 tons. This resulted in the trains being a mile and a quarter long! Without your support, we’ll never be able to acquire and restore C&O 1601. Thank you for reading this!

Growth

Growth history is still building. We hold one measurement for this entry. A trend needs at least two, taken days apart — so this will fill in on its own rather than being estimated. We do not publish numbers we have not measured.
