Description
INFANTRY REGIMENT Oldenburg was by membership of Denmark for a long time without its own military. After the change of the country dominion existed from 1775. Only a small ducal "Infantry Corps" with purely representative tasks existed. At the end of the 18th century, this Knobelgarde, named after commander Captain von Knobel, consisted of only about 50 men. With the accession to the Rhine Confederation in 1808, the Danish had to set up a "Confederation of Rhine Confederation contingent", which consisted mainly of soldiers from the Oldenburg Infantry Regiment. They would then go on to fight in battles from Spain to Russia.
