Description

The Bay County Volunteer Fire & Rescue (BCVFR) was established in 1950 through the merger of the Port Briar Volunteer Fire Department and the Bay County Volunteer Rescue Squad to improve emergency response across the region. Over the years, the department modernized its operations, though setbacks such as Hurricane Marino in 1997 forced it to rebuild and adapt. In 2005, following the bankruptcy of the area's sole ambulance provider, BCVFR assumed responsibility for emergency medical services throughout the county. Today, BCVFR provides fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical, and hazardous materials response services to Bay County and remains the county's primary fire and rescue agency.
