The Government The United States government is comprised of 3 branches; the legislative branch, executive branch, and the judicial branch. Each branch works together to set the laws of the U.S. The congress, senate, and House of Representatives are under the legislative branch, which makes the laws. Governments provide the parameters for everyday behavior for citizens, protect them from outside interference, and often provide for their well-being and happiness. In the last few centuries, some economists and thinkers have advocated government control over some aspects of the economy.
