The King would seek advice from the wise men of his court which would include Justices and members of the church such as bishops. The name "court" comes from the fact that most kings held court and made judgments. In most cases, the King would host the courtroom and let his Justices serve justice and peace amongst crimes; the final judgment would be given to the Chief Justice or King(if desired).
