Established XX/XII/MMXXI. The Duchy of Saxony was founded in DCCCIV A.D. by Charlemagne. After the creation of the Holy Roman Empire Saxony would remain a basic Duchy until MCCCLVI A.D. when it would become a Prince-Electorate, a state of Empire with the honorable duty of electing the next Emperor. The Duchy would play a major role in Europe's history, even becoming a Kingdom in MDCCCVI A.D. Noble Family: House of Andechs, MCXII - MCDXXII.
